We All Need a Break Sometimes, Even Our Oysters

Get ready for our oysters to take a break! A vacation allows our oysters to relax, recharge, and soak up the summer sunshine. But why do oysters need a break? Our oysters take advantage of the late summer months to reproduce, since it is when the water temperatures are at their warmest. We ensure our oysters are full of rich flavors by letting them take a break and age before harvesting them.

At Sanctuary Oysters, we care deeply about our oysters’ wellbeing. Since our oysters naturally spawn during the late summer months, they are more susceptible to stress during production. That’s why we make the bold decision to slow production rather than possibly harm our little gems during the process. In the meantime, our Pacific oysters enjoy the breathtaking views of the El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, the cool ocean breeze, and the chance to swim all day long!

As the summer comes to a close, we are preparing to not just send our oysters on vacation but to allow our hardworking team to enjoy some well-deserved time off too. Work life balance is important to us and this time allows our team to enjoy time to focus on their health and wellness and spend quality time with their families.

At Sanctuary Oysters, we aim to harvest the freshest, most sustainable, mouthwatering Pacific oysters. To continue meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations, we will soon be limiting production to provide the best quality oysters.

But don’t give your farewell to our oysters just yet! You can still purchase our delicious oysters before they leave for vacation.
