The Best Beverages to Pair with Oysters
With summer just around the corner and the temperature getting hotter, we’re all going to need some snacks to help us keep cool– such as some scrumptious chilled oysters. You’ll also want to pair them with the best beverages imaginable, and we’re here to help. We can guarantee one thing though, no matter what you choose to enjoy with our Sanctuary Oysters, you’ll have a delicious experience. Here are our absolute favorite pairings. Enjoy!
Champagne
Of course, at the top of our list is Champagne – the most classic pairing with oysters. The crisp fizziness and acidic flavor of Champagne compliments well with the briny nature of our Pacific Oysters, helping cut through the creaminess. Best of all, the carbonation helps refresh and cleanse your palate between each oyster helping you enjoy the more subtle flavors. Champagne and champagne based cocktails such as the Bellini, Kir Royale and French 75 are a match made in heaven for oysters especially when served chilled.
Wine
You can’t go wrong with pairing a chilled glass of wine with delicious oysters. Our go-to white wine to pair with oysters is Chablis, made with Chardonnay grapes. Chablis is the northernmost winegrowing region of Burgundy and because of the cooler climate there, it leads to more natural acidity in the grapes that grow there. What’s even more fascinating is that the soil of the region is mineral-rich and contains marine fossils like oyster shells – no wonder the two go well together. Resulting in a less fruity wine which makes it ideal to drink with seafood. We also suggest you try pairing them with Sauvignon Blanc– another great option.
Margarita
On a hot summer day, there’s nothing better slurping down oysters and drinking a classic, refreshing margarita! Most drinks with citrus pair well with oysters. What makes this the perfect pairing is the smoky taste of tequila, which complements the delicate flavor of oysters. If you’re feeling a little more daring, you can also give margarita oyster shooters a try. Simply make a margarita dressing using juice of the limes, tequila and extra virgin oil, and then pour some over your shucked oyster.
Beer
Last but certainly not least – beer! Beat the heat with a delicious iced cold beer paired with our Sanctuary Oysters. Beer complements and enhances the elegant and subtle nature of the oyster’s flavor. Stay cool this upcoming summer with your favorite beer in one hand while you slurp oysters with the other hand.
Oysters are delicious on their own and even more delicious when paired with your favorite beverage. There are endless of drinks out there to pair with your oysters, so we recommend experimenting. Want more drink suggestions? Contact us at info@solazul.com.mx.
